UK Kashmiri Diaspora Stages 24-Hour Sit-in Outside 10 Downing Street in Solidarity with Rawalakot Protesters

Overseas Kashmiris are starting this sit-in protest, all members of the UK Kashmiri diaspora and overseas community, here at 10 Downing Street, behind the British Prime Minister's residence, joining me outside to begin this sit-in for 24 hours. This sit-in is for our brothers and sisters protesting in Rawalakot, who are unarmed, who raised basic demands, and over those basic demands they were shot at, tortured in police stations, and locked away in prisons; this is in solidarity with them and their struggle for basic civil rights, we are holding this to give them yet another opportunity to sit at the table, negotiate, and resolve the crisis, to release everyone detained in prisons, and ensure the families of the martyrs are granted their rightful dues in the best possible manner, and that the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee's demands for human rights are fully accepted and met, so that the world, which is currently watching this spectacle, sees that our unarmed brothers and sisters are sitting out under the open sky.

A sit-in is beginning here as well, and raising our voices in unison with theirs, we are holding this sit-in today on October 18th outside 10 Downing Street.
