Khawaja Kabir Ahmed is a UK-based journalist, columnist, and researcher of British, Belgian, and Kashmiri background whose work focuses on the political status of Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, human rights, democratic freedoms, and public accountability.
Originally from Direk near Rawalakot in Poonch, he studied commerce at the University of Karachi before completing a journalism degree at the University of Derby in the UK. He began writing in Karachi around 1989, with early work published in Daily Jang, and later adopted journalism as a voluntary profession to highlight the voices of oppressed and marginalised people.
He is associated with Jammu Kashmir TV (JKTV) as an anchor and Director of Public Affairs, using media to cover public issues, political developments, human-rights concerns, and Kashmiri perspectives internationally.
He views Kashmir not merely as an India–Pakistan territorial dispute but as a question of the Kashmiri people’s political future, freedom, dignity, and fundamental rights.
